Rihanna & Christopher

I've never been a huge fan of Chris Brown or Rihanna! Rihanna started to grow on me after her beating (see picture above). I thought "this girl is a survivor!" Chris Brown has always been a little too fruity for my liking, so my disliking has always been consistent. Its common knowledge that Chris Brown and Rihanna dated a while back and one night, Chris Brown decided to whip her head back & forth (no willow smith).

Here's part 2!

I recently heard about a couple of new songs with Chris Brown & Rihanna. To be honest, I haven't even heard the songs, and I dont want to waste MBs listening to em either, but after watching the videos above, I have to scratch my head.

I've heard the saying that "Love is Blind" and I dont own a gavel so I'm not the one to judge, but I'd like to dedicate this blog to every female who has ever taken abuse (Physical or verbal) from a man.

Adam didn't beat Eve! I'm sure he wanted to put hands on her when she bit the apple, but he refrained himself, like any real man would. To get physical with a person who is smaller and weaker than you (usually, I've seen some big mamas out there) shows a lot about your character. Now I've seen the situation where a female would think she was Rocky Balboa and want to hit a man with her fist, and I've heard an O.G. say that  "If you act like a man, you'll get beat like one". I obviously don't agree with that approach, if you can't stop a woman from punching you in the face, by restraining her you may need to hit the gym up on that Big Milt program. Nonetheless, if you're a female and you see that your S.O. is punching walls or throwing remotes at t.v. screens, it maybe a sign that you're dealing with a violent individual. If you really love the person you can recommend that he goes to an anger management specialist. Hopefully you can alleviate the problem before he turns that anger on you.

Verbal abuse is no better than physical abuse. Now this goes both ways, and if it goes far enough it can lead to the physical. Some men talk down to their women because they live life as a coward and have low self-esteem. They may get talked down to at work by a higher-up and come home and want to take it out on their S.O. God bless that man.

Now back to Christopher Brown and Rihanna. If Chris Brown was totally apologetic and could prove to Rihanna that he is a changed man, I wouldn't be writing this blog, but 2 years after the situation, he was asked by an interviewer some simple questions about Rihanna and this is what he does....

At least he didn't start punching the interviewer in the face, but obviously homeboy has some anger issues. Maybe Rihanna bought a helmet before she got back in the studio with Chris Brown this time. Who knows!! Ladies, please be careful with the person you choose to call your S.O. and if you have a slick mouth you may need to tone it down, if you don't know your S.O.'s reaction to them. Everybody be safe and love not war!!!

The Sixth Sense

Unless your girl thinks you have no sense of picking up on hints, she's probably not going to sit you down and tell you what she wants for Christmas. Most girls want you to pick up on the sometimes subtle hints that they give. Some girls are too stubborn to drop hints and want you to play Professor X and read their minds, and if you guess wrong, you get the cold shoulder all winter long (more ways than one, get it?).

Whatever the case, here are some tips to figure out what that special someone is wanting for Christmas...

#1: Listen!!! You can just pick up hints through a regular conversation if you just open your ears. Here's a conversation:

Guy: Hey baby, looking hot!
Girl: Thank you. I really like my outfit, but I've really had my eyes on this leather jacket @ Macy's that would put this outfit over the top!
Guy: Nahhh! You don't need a jacket, just wear mine if you get cold....

That was a very clear hint-drop. Lets get a little more subtle

Guy: Hey baby, looking hot!
Girl: Thank you. I'm really cold though!
Guy: Just wear my jacket, and don't mind the musty smell...

Yes, girls do like to wear their men's jacket sometimes, but what they really want is you to think about them and purchase that jacket for them.

#2: Watch commercials! Commercials are filled with brain-washing techniques for women! Keep an eye on your lady and see her facial expressions, or maybe she'll blurt out and say that she would love the item that's being advertised. Make a mental note and surprise her on Christmas morning!

#3: Sunday Papers! Get a Sunday paper and go through all of the sales papers with your woman noting the items that get aha moments. This is pretty simple!

DO NOT -- I REPEAT -- DO NOT let this conversation go down:

Guy: Hey hot muffins, what would you like for Christmas
Girl: Ummm, I don't think I want anything this year
Guy: Okay, cool!

If you don't buy your girl anything for Christmas (even if they say, they don't want anything) you can expect to spend New Years lonely!

Its about that time!!

I've been slacking, I know! If you've lost faith in me, I wouldn't blame you. Between playing Madden (that I just purchased on black friday), and reading the hunger games trilogy (http://www.amazon.com/Hunger-Games-Trilogy-Boxed-Set/dp/0545265355/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1323091049&sr=8-1), and being a father to my son, Buddy Lee, I have lost all of the free time, I once had, but Im back like chiropractors (get it?)

I want to give a BIG CONGRATULATIONS to Alex and John Shepherd on the birth of their beautiful and healthy baby, Riley Rae Shepherd last Tuesday. I've only worked with Alex since July, but its felt like a decade. I guess when you're homies, it be's like that sometimes!

Ok!! Im going to cut right to the the meat of this blog! Christmas gifts!!! I'm not really big on receiving as I am on giving. Something about making somebody happy with a gift just makes ya boy feel all woozy inside. I remember when I was a kid. My mom didn't have a lot of money, but she always seemed to get the perfect gift for Christmas for me. My favorite gift received of all time was a WWF wrestling ring.

I played with action figures a lot growing up, because I was always grounded. From that day I vowed to make everyone I ever loved to feel the same way I felt when I unwrapped this wrestling ring. I encourage everyone to spread the joy of giving this season. & let us not forget the reason for the season. God gave us the perfect gift in his Son, Jesus. The least we can do is give some imperfect gifts to make someone's Christmas that much mroe special!

Buddy Lee Giles

If anybody has ever met my wife, you would know that she is a loving and caring person. One thing that she doesn't love and care for are animals. After watching an episode of Oprah's "Life Lessons" about dogs, she mentioned getting a puppy. That was all of the ammunition I needed, so friday I visited the Rockdale animal shelter on Rockbridge Road (check em out, and pick up a pup). I had 4 dogs that I was interested in. I really loved the lab/chow mixed, but T liked the golden retriever puppy because he was really shy and inactive, so we rolled with him. After going through a barrage of names including: glock, neckbone, brown, & jenna, I finally just stuck with Buddy.

I've only had him for 5 days, and he's already taught me so much about myself. I'm very impatient and hot-tempered, but I'm working on those things so when the babies arrive, I'll be ready for them! Thanks in advance, Buddy!

The Little Things That Count

Women are a strange breed! Men are stranger! Fatdreek is the strangest!

This blog goes out to all of my fellas. I know a lot of my fellas dont read blogs. Shoot, some of my fellas cant even read, but nonetheless this is for you...

When it comes to romance, most woman love it and most men hate it, but I tell you this my brother, if you dont show your romantic side, than your significant other will find that romance somewhere else.

Now, I'm not talking candlelight dinner everynight, or staring at each other's eyes in front of a fireplace with Boyz II Men playing in the background. What I am talking about is giving a compliment here and there. Showing appreciation when she cooks an excellent meal and not complaining when she cooks a not-so-excellent meal. Telling her that she makes you happy! If you take care of your business @ the crib, you don't have to worry about your woman blushing when a man says she looks nice or smells good. Women love to feel praised and adored and who better to praise and adore your woman than yourself.

Find ways to incorporate your woman into your "me" time. I love to watch football on Sundays @ Buffalo Wild Wings. Instead of ditching my wife, I just tell her to come on with me some Sundays, and while she admires the player's backsides or fills me in on which player is dating which housewife, I can sit back and enjoy some football.

I encourage my fellas to do something out of the ordinary this week to let your woman know that you still care for her, and you'd be suprise the level of devotion you will get in return!

Pick Your Battles

I've been married for 2 years, so by no means do I consider myself an expert, but I have been with the same woman (dating & marriage) for 8 years, and the greatest piece of advice that I can give couples (dating or married) is to pick your battles. Life is shorter than we tend to realize (Im attending my 10 year high school reunion next year and that's scary!). Why waste life with being angry at the person that you want to spend your life with. Thinking about some of the things that my wife and I have argued about over the years are just silly! Ego is a no-no when it comes to the game of love, and if you let your ego get too big, you can miss out on some great time with your loved one. Now this doesn't mean that when you have a disagreement that you just sweep things under the rug and act like nothing happened. You need to have a HEALTHY argument. I put an emphasis on healthy, because adults have healthy arguments, and children have unhealthy arguments.

Lets give examples of each:

A healthy argument would consist of a sit down between a couple and instead of yelling and finger pointing, one party would voice their problem and then listen to the other party's problem. Feelings may be hurt during this process, but if love is presented with the problem, then hurt feelings wont last that long.

An unhealthy argument involves raised voices and name calling and finger pointing. It usually involves a healthy dose of disrespect, which usually leads to hurt feelings that last for weeks.

Respect is not just an Aretha Franklin song, but it also is a vital organ in the body of love!!! If you want respect, you have to give it. The next time your partner pisses you off, try like my homeboy Jerry told me "Dreek, take 3 deep breaths and then address the issue". This method works!! Instead of flying off the lip at my wife, I take 3 deep breaths and proceed. It saves a lot of headaches and a lot of hurt feelings which is a red flag in the audit of love!!!!

Thats it for now, and if you're having "relationship problems", just think about the couple that just filed bankruptcy, or had a miscarriage, or is dealing with infidelity, and then your "problems" wont seem so big!
